Jake Melnick's, Chicago, IL

Jake's is one of my favorite drop-in spots in Chicago. I worked around the corner and it has the best burgers, fries and nachos (oh, the ones with BBQ brisket are TDF). When I had a stressed morning or week, I would go there to commiserate with myself over some serious calories. I am so glad bread pudding was just added to the menu because if it had been there the whole time I worked around the corner I would not have been able to walk there for indulging. It's ridiculously indulgent and one of the few that I could not finish.

Welcome Bread Pudding Lovers!

I rarely make BP, but I seek it. If I made it, I'd eat it all so this is the best way I can indulge, one portion at a time.

The rating system goes from one BP fork or thingy (yuck) to four BP (divine) forks or thingies (thingies were predecessors to the forks system).

Note: I do NOT like raisins in my BP, particularly those sneaky yellow raisins, so I'll make it clear if raisins, nuts or other accessories are in the BP.

Another preference is that I feel BP should stand alone. If it needs sauce, ice cream, whipped cream, etc., then it gets a lower rating. If those extras are just extras and the BP is good all by itself, I'll indicate that.
